A fund that has a heart for making a difference to the wellbeing of the Invercargill community

We are excited to open applications for another Youth Representative to join Invercargill City Council's Community Wellbeing Fund Subcommittee. The current Committee members include 5 Councillors: Trish Boyle (Chair), Alex Crackett, Peter Kett, Ria Bond and Steve Broad; and 3 Community Representatives: Meggy Bartlett-McBride, Nathan Burdon and Andrea de Vries.

In 2020, Council reviewed its community funding with the aim of making it easier to apply and introduce a more strategic approach to support provided. Four previous funds were merged to form the Community Wellbeing Fund, with total available funding of $565,000 per financial year, across 6 rounds. The Community Wellbeing Fund's goal is to support social, cultural, environmental and economic wellbeing as well as Council’s vision to create “Our City with Heart – He Ngākau Aroha”. Find out more here: Invercargill Community Wellbeing Fund Page.

The main role of a Community Wellbeing Fund committee member is to assess community project applications and determine the allocation of funds to viable activities that support wellbeing across the local community. The committee currently meet once every 2 months, on a Thursday afternoon in March, May, July, September and November. This is a voluntary role of a 3-year term.
