Parking Control Bylaw 2024
Consultation has concluded
Council is proposing changes to our Parking Control Bylaw
The Parking Control Bylaw sets out rules governing how people may park within the city and how Council will enforce those rules.
Recent events have identified that wording of our current bylaw, and the wording of our infringement notices have been inconsistent, and that greater clarity is needed in some areas.
Our proposed changes include clarifying definitions and some language used including a clearer description of the charging process, including the requirement that all vehicles need to be registered into the system even if planned to be there less than 30 minutes.
We have included more detail on offences and enforcement, updated the information about mobility parking permits and how to display these, clarified where users cannot park heavy vehicles and also added information about bus stop signage.
Council is not proposing changes to parking zones or pricing at this time.
We have also heard from our disabled community that there are limited options for taxi drop-offs in our city centre so we are also proposing trialling disabled taxi parks in our city centre, and we would like to hear what you think about that here.
If you have any questions about our proposed changes or parking in general, pop into our drop session at the Library on Thursday 6 June.
Tell us what you think about our proposed 2024 Parking Control Bylaw here.
