What is the process for selling reserve land?

The process for removing reserve status and disposal is outlined in Section 24 of the Reserves Act 1977 which is illustrated below:

Why are you proposing to sell this land?

Council identifies this land as having little recreational or environmental values under the Reserves Act parameters. That as well as acknowledging its isolated location, this land is therefore viewed as being surplus to requirements.

The proposal to begin the public consultation process was approved through Council resolution on 8 August 2023 to proceed and the process formalises the next steps required under the Reserves Act 1977.

How will the funds generated from the sale of this land be used?

Funds will be used towards capital and maintenance to help increase the quality of other ICC Parks.

What is the tender process for selling this land?

Once the Minister of Conservation has approved Council's request to remove reserve status the titles will be updated and Council can then proceed with sale of the land as per the ICC Disposal Policy.
