Share your ideas on our approach to the upcoming Plan Change
Last year, Council sought feedback from the community on ideas to support quality housing development in the District Plan. Since then, we have been building on this work, reviewing what we heard, engaging with mana whenua, and working on rolling out our new Code of Practice for Land Development and Subdivision.
Now is the time to have your say on our preferred approach for the upcoming Plan Change to the District Plan. This Plan Change aims to:
Enable greater density and diversity of housing choice in the Residential 1 and 1A Zones in Invercargill;
Promote well-designed housing to provide better social and environmental outcomes.
Enable papakāinga housing and associated activities in the District; and
Decouple the Code of Practice for Land Development and Subdivision Infrastructure from the District Plan.
We want to hear what you think about our preferred approach to the Plan Change.
You can read our preferred approach fact sheethere, and the more detailed report here. If you need to review the current zoning to inform your feedback, you can find our District Plan map here, and instructions on how to use the maps are in the FAQ section.
Once consultation has closed, we will use this feedback to inform the drafting of the Plan Change. We will come back to the community for formal submissions when we notify the Plan Change in October this year. At that time, you will have another opportunity to have your say on specific proposed policies and rules, and let us know if you think we have the Plan Change right.
