Consultation has concluded
What do you think makes a community strong?
Strong Communities Murihiku wants to hear from people of all ages from throughout the Southland region, about what you think makes a strong community.
What is Strong Communities Murihiku? It's part of Just Transitions that was established following the announcement of the New Zealand Aluminium Smelter closure announcement in 2020. Supported by the Government, it aims to start lots of conversations about future possibilities for Southland.
Regardless of the fate of the smelter, the transition allows us to step back, look afresh at what makes the Southland community special, to think about what new opportunities there are and how we can work together differently to build 'Strong Communities' throughout the Murihiku/Southland region. The outcome of this project will be a community vision and framework and proposals sent to the government for projects which they may be able to fund in Southland.
We need your help to start this conversation ...
Tell us what you think and go into the draw to win 1 of five $100 Prezzy cards.
Here at Let's Talk, you can share your thoughts, find out more about the project, and be inspired by what other communities are doing in Aotearoa.
You can also see who's involved and check out all the ways you can have your say, and out timeframes and next steps.
