My organisation has a project we would like Council to fund, should I apply?
If you have a project you believe has benefit to the community please consider applying to the Community Wellbeing Fund. If you have a Creative project in mind, or one that reduces Waste, you may consider one of Council's other funds. You can find more information about these funds and how to apply here
Questions about speaking to the Fund Subcommittee
How do I book my presentation time?
You will be sent a Microsoft booking link by the administrator once your application has been received and the funding round has closed. You can select a time from the available slots and choose to present to the subcommittee in person or via Microsoft Teams during your allocated time.
Can I choose the time/day that I wish to present on?
The Subcommittee already has set dates locked in place for their meetings for the year. These are on a Thursday 3 weeks after a round closing date and start at 1pm. Time slots for presenting are usually between 1:30pm and 3pm on these days.
You will receive a booking link from the fund administrator which will allow you to choose an appropriate 10 minute time slot that suits you.
Can I present via video call?
Yes. There is an option to select that you wish to link in remotely to present to the Fund Subcommittee. Please select this when you book your hearing time via the Microsoft bookings link. Microsoft Teams is the platform used.
What can I expect during the meeting?
Firstly, you will need to wait on the landing outside the Council Chambers (Victoria Room) until you are called through.
The room is laid out in a formal setting but don't be daunted, the committee are there to meet you and understand more about your project, activity or event.
You will have up to 10 minutes to speak to the committee, and questions may be asked of you.
Who will be at the fund meeting?
The members of the Community Wellbeing Fund Subcommittee will be in the room, along with 2 or 3 staff.

Members of Invercargill City Council's Community Wellbeing Fund Subcommittee include 5 Councillors: Trish Boyle (Chair), Alex Crackett, Peter Kett, Ria Bond and Steve Broad; and 4 Community Representatives: Sebastian Gray (Youth Rep), Meggy Bartlett-McBride, Nathan Burdon and Andrea de Vries. Occasionally alternate attendees will be present if they are covering an apology.
What should I wear to my hearing?
The Council Chambers is a formal environment, but please come along in clothing you are comfortable in. Tidy/casual is an appropriate dress code.
Can I bring a support person?
Yes, we have seating available for up to 3 people, but there are more seats in the room if needed. Please let the fund administrator know if you are bringing along extras and who they are ahead of your presentation time if possible.
Can I bring my children?
The Council Chambers is a formal setting. The Subcommittee need to be able to hear your presentation, so if your children are well-behaved or very young, then yes, you can bring them with you.
Where do I go for my presentation to the Fund Subcommittee?
Meetings are held in the Council Chambers, which is currently located in the Civic Theatre at 88 Tay Street, Invercargill.
The Chambers are upstairs in the old Victoria Room. There will likely be a staff member waiting to check you in at the bottom of the theatre stairs, and they will show you where to go. Please ask a theatre or Council staff member or message the fund administrator if you get lost.

Will parking be available for my hearing time?
Free parking is unavailable for presenters to the Fund Subcommittee. You may park at any metered spot nearby, enter your license plate number, and make use of your free 30 minute per day allocation. Alternatively, there is free parking available on Conon and Forth Streets if you are able to walk.
There are 2 disability parks in the carpark to the East of the Civic Theatre for use if you hold the appropriate permit.
Am I able to listen to other applicants' presentations?
Unfortunately, not.
You may be present for the beginning part of the meeting which is open to the public, but once the committee start discussing other organisations applications, the door is closed and the meeting becomes excluded to the public. Equally, no other organisation or individual may come along to listen to your presentation, unless they are supporting you.
Is the funding meeting livestreamed?
No. Council meetings are often livestreamed, but as this is a Subcommittee for funding assessment purposes, we do not livestream the Community Wellbeing Fund meetings.
